Mixed reality (MR) is the merging of real and virtual worlds, creating a more complex form of augmented reality. The term Mixed reality is often used to describe Microsoft’s HoloLens, Meta Glasses, and Magic Leap’s project. The concept is in a state of flux and may eventually disappear into a single spectrum that ranges from augmented to virtual reality.
Mixed Reality Applications
Microsoft HoloLens is finding use in work and retail environments, for example, in a pilot project at Lowe’s Stores. It has been adopted by NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory to help with navigation of the Mars Rover. It is finding innovative use in both STEM and Medical education environments.
